This Halloween themed editable poetry lesson is excellent to use in your ELA classroom to celebrate Halloween with an educational activity. In this lesson, students will learn about the different types of poetry and then have an opportunity to practice writing each type directly into the slides. All slides are editable and are Halloween themed. This lesson starts out with a student directions page. On this page, you can use the directions I have written, or change them to fit your needs. This presentation can be posted directly into student's Google Classrooms or displayed to the class.

This back to school getting to know you activity will have students using music and their favorite songs to describe themselves to their peers. In this writing activity, students will choose 5 songs that they feel best describe them and add them to their playlist. After choosing their songs, they will be prompted to write a paragraph explaining why they've chosen each song using lyrics as textual evidence. As a teacher, you will get a glimpse of their writing but you will also learn about them as individuals.
