In this 18 page Google Slides digital lesson, students will learn about autobiographies and biographies. Students will learn about genres, nonfiction text, biographies, and autobiographies along with examples. On the teacher directions page, you will have the opportunity to make a copy of a guided notes worksheet to provide to students.

Additionally, there are two extension activities to use to continue this lesson. The first involves reviewing your own classroom/library biographies and autobiographies (I prefer picture book biographies). The second activity involves students writing their own biographies on a classmate that they interview.

Included in this Resource:

  • 10 pages of notes
  • 1 guided notes Google Slides student page (forced copy) for students you use during lesson
  • 1 reviewing biographies and autobiographies extension activity (forced copy) for students to use if you have access to your own biographies and autobiographies
  • 1 biography writing extension activity with student questionnaire slides and rubric

  • This was a great resource! I used it for skill work for my narrative nonfiction unit. There aren't many resources out there for autobiography vs. biography, but this is a great one! Highly recommend!
